  • Where can I charge my vehicle?
You will have a number of different options, but the most convenient will always be charging at home. If, like over 30% of the population, you don’t have off-street parking at home, you will want a charge point on your street nearby. Look for a charge point near you by downloading our app and locating your nearest charge point.
  • How do I charge my EV?
Before using one of ChargePost’s electric vehicle charge points, we recommend that you register an account. You can use the service without registering, however you will be required to enter your payment card each time you start a charging session. To set up your account, you will require the following information; name, email address, mobile phone number and your chosen password. You can also optionally store your payment card and vehicle details to avoid entering them when you wish to start a charging session.
  • How long does it take to charge my EV?
Most charge points provide around 7kW of power. The length of time it takes to charge your vehicle will depend on how empty the battery is.
  • Do I need my own cable?
Yes. You will need to use you own Type 2 cable.
  • Am I responsible for my cable?
Yes. You are responsible for ensuring your cable does not create a trip hazard to pedestrians.
  • Can I charge a second vehicle using the same cable?
Yes. In order to end the first vehicle's charge session, ensure that you completely disconnect the cable from both ends before plugging in the second vehicle.
  • Do I have to be a member?
No membership or subscription is required to use a charge point.
  • How can I check the availability of a charge point?
The app shows real time status of all charge points, allowing you to check whether it is available or in use.
  • How much does it cost?
The cost will vary according to your local council and will be based on how much energy you take. Our app shows all the costs.
  • How can I pay?
You will need to add your payment card to the app. We accept all major credit and debit cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Why do I have a pre-authorisation charge taken from my card?
A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold of funds on your payment card account. It makes sure the money is available to pay for your charge.
  • Why do I not get my full pre-authorisation charge refunded?
Our banking system will deduct your charge for the kilowatts you have consumed from the pre-authorisation charge and will refund you the difference.
  • How long does it take to get my refund back?
This depends on your bank. It can be minutes or up to 8 business days.
